The hospital opened its doors in 1960 as a 146-bed facility called the Community Hospital of San Gabriel. In the mid 1980's, the hospital's name was changed to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center (SGVMC) to reflect a significant expansion in bed capacity and breadth of services offered. Over the years, the hospital has continued to expand its services to meet the needs of the residents of the San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Today, our now 273-bed hospital is considered one of the premier healthcare facilities in the San Gabriel... read more

Get directionsMy husband had a hip replacement yesterday at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the outstanding care he received. Dr. Benjamin Tam, who performed the surgery, is truly an excellent and caring physician. From the beginning, we felt confident and reassured knowing he was in charge. His professionalism, patience, and compassion made a world of difference during this process. We were also deeply impressed by the hospital staff. From the moment we arrived, Teresa at the front desk welcomed us... read more
First time to the E.R on Saturday night. I took my dad to this hospital, it was stressful with an medical emergency but the staff and the doctors were all very kind and helpful. They did blood test, EKG, CT scan and all sort of tests, my dad got better and he was released a few hours later. The facility is clean and well maintained, although it still has the look of the 90's but who cares, most importantly is that the wait is short... read more

It has been over a year since I had this experience at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, but I was deeply traumatized and realize it is best for me to share my story. I was admitted to that place with a fractured femur after falling in my home. I had successful surgery 2 days later. Dr. Tang was great. The next night around 9 I heard a lot of people talking and laughing very loudly. This went on and on, and I realized the staff was having a party! In my unit! From 9 p.m. on and on! Needless to say I couldn’t sleep! At 2 a.m... read more
I rarely write reviews unless I had an exceptionally good or exceptionally bad experience. In this case, I am going to rave about my experience. From Fabi the person on the phone who cared enough to remember I had been disappointed I couldn't get treated before leaving town, and thus working something out for me, to Maria who did my intake, to Mel, Stacy, 3 other people who either provided some transition or the surgeon who I didn't get the name of, everyone I encountered was caring, enjoyable, and procedurally organized, ac... read more
