The hospital opened its doors in 1960 as a 146-bed facility called the Community Hospital of San Gabriel. In the mid 1980's, the hospital's name was changed to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center (SGVMC) to reflect a significant expansion in bed capacity and breadth of services offered. The staff inside ER that sits at the desk needs to be trained on how to be more professional they are a disservice to the community.

One of the worst hospitals we’ve experienced. The nursing chart had a patients wrong weight recorded and the patient w CHF was getting worse. He later acquired a UTI. My mom’s post-operative care was dismal. She leaked spinal fluid from her incision at the base of her head and the nurses weren’t aware. We had to bring it to their attention she passed away. She died of a communicable, hospital acquired disease and infection.
Came in to ER for sudden hearing loss on left ear on Sept 2024. PA treated as clogged ear wax even though the ear drum was clearly visible from the scope, and mistakenly ordered an ear flush. The staff performed the ear flush so rough as if he was unclogging the sewer. It was done with a needle-like syringe. He didn't look or care what the needle was poking into and pushing the flushing as hard as he could. After 4 flush attempts my ear was so painful and bleeding.
