Gorgeous hotel with great on site restaurant and roof top bar.
The only item lacking - rooftop bar food. Every element of this hotel intentional in form and function - clever and whimsically sophisticated. Interesting to have the food be sub par in an upscale food city. That said - wouldn’t keep us from coming back. Great location and loved the design and service.
I stayed at the Proper when it first opened - I actually just edited my review from 8 years ago to write this one. The neighborhood was manageable then, but today, it is genuinely terrifying. To be fair, the hotel's interior is nice and offers a safe haven once you are inside. This said , for the premium prices Marriott charges, parts of the rooms are starting to feel noticeably worn and not up to the standard the hotel used to hold. Dealbreaker though, the location.
