I love Sammie's Pizza, always have, always will. That being said the downtown location is a complete clown show. I had some gift certificates for that location, was going downtown so decided to use them. First off they do not answer the phone, it just rings and rings(2X). Maybe they are busy, I just drive there to put in an order. They are completely empty except for the 4 people working. But no customers in sight. * Chicken Alfredo pizza 🍕 was great. * Crust was super. * Bread sticks very good. * Ice water very good. * Soda was good as well. We ordered a 16 inch deluxe to take home. We will stop there again. We left Duluth in a hurry too escape the dreaded smoke.
The food and atmosphere was really good. It felt a little like stepping back in time. Not many people eating in the actual restaurant but we saw lots of orders going out. I'm sure locals probably opted to order delivery since downtown Duluth was not the easiest to navigate and park in (although we were able to find free street parking everywhere we stopped).
A long time family recipe that is worth the stop. Priced fairly and service with a smile.
