I’ve seen Dr. Spencer since I was 9, and she’s followed my case into adulthood. I’ve always felt comfortable with her and trusted her judgement. Treating a relatively rare and chronic condition can be frustrating as a patient, especially when there are so few solutions or answers out there. Dr. Spencer has always been clear and transparent regarding my long term expectations with the disease, and has continued to work to find treatments and solutions which fit me and my lifestyle. I never feel rushed as her patient, and I al... read more
Recently my son went to see Dr. Spencer as he was recently diagnosed with with a bone disease. At this appointment Dr. Spencer repeatedly interrupted my son and I and even talked over us a we were trying to explain his symptoms. Dr. Spencer is a caring, thorough doctor. She takes the time to discuss option plans with you. She is very easy to talk to and always has great answers for questions you have on the reason you need her services.
After many visits to doctors to find out what was wrong with my feet and why I kept having constant foot pain we finally were referred to Boston Childrens Hospital. Dr Spencer is highly trained and after an exam which included xrays and ct scans she concluded that I had tarsal coalition.I had a severe case, and she recommended surgery. After months of recovering from the surgery I was able to be active again and play sports. I am very happy that I got the surgery because I have lots of relief.
My daughter had an appointment today at Children's Hospital with Dr. Spencer. After waiting for 4 1/2 hours we were informed that she had left the floor and we would have to go to another area to be seen. Except, we were told it could be much longer plus that was no guarantee that we would be seen. We had traveled from a distance for the appointment. We were told that the doctor was overbooked.
Dr. Spencer may be an intelligent physician capable of ascertaining an accurate diagnosis and providing appropriate care but she lacks in being able to articulate her prognosis and the appropriate next steps to her patients in an effective manner. So much of being an effective physician, especially to children is to be able to communicate with both the kids and the parents. More work to be done on that front doc!
