Poor quilty and service – This was the worst BBQ Ive had in the Denver area. The food was cold, service was horrible, ribs were extremely greasy and over priced. The ice tea was expensive and was not offered refills. I also read another review that was not favorable. However, it disappeared only a few days later. If mine makes it on this site, please beware this restaurant was not good on my ONLY visit.
My absolute favorite barbecue in Denver – I love Sam Taylor's! I went the first time just because it was "nearby", but go regularly now. Sam greets everyone who's available to say hello to, and the wait staff is very friendly. The chips are addictive, the rib tips are smoky-sweet and ultra tender, the buffalo chicken in the salad is excellent, and the catfish nuggets are very southern...not "fishy" at all. Pure BBQ Enjoyment – Just left Sam's a few hours ago and still am tasting that incredible BBQ flavor..(not to mention I am still stuffed for a very minimum price). From the moment my large party entered Sam's we were promptly greeted at the door and as we were being seated Sam himself came up to say "Hi" and make sure we were set. I haven't had this good of service or felt completely satisfied with a dining experience in a long time. Thanks Sam...I will be back soon.
User review by vnick – great bbq that falls off the bone...homemade chips of which i ate en entire basket, and i don't even like chips. first crispy cole slaw I've run into in many a year. owner comes out and says thanks to customers.
Changed their recipe – Used to eat there all the time. They changed about a year ago, and now ribs look an unappetizing red as if not cooked enough, and the ribs themselves are way too hot - spicy like buffalo wings. Leave the hot spices to the sauce, please! They used to be so good before and were a main staple of our Atkins diet. Too bad.
My First Review – Truly enjoyable 'cue dining. The entire experience was extremely fine, with prompt seating and service. The food appeared almost instantaneously, The ribs were meaty and the brisket cooked to perfection. The sauce was sweet and had a healthy bite. The homemade potato chips were super good and a surprise to find on the menu-recommended. The baked beans were flavorful and not overcooked. We also enjoyed the warm washcloths delivered at the end of the meal. A very good value.
User review by meela – The first time my husband and I ate at Sam Taylor's it was FABULOUS! We were drawn in by the smell and we were not disappointed in the food. However, since that first time, we have eaten there on 3 other occasions and the quality was anything but good. The brisket and ribs were very fatty and greasy and there was too much sauce dumped over everything. The sauce itself is overly sweet and would be much better served on the side. The mac and cheese and corn on the cob are really good though.
Not Good! – My husband and I had dinner a Sam Taylors, the services was nice but the food needs help. My husband had the rib dinner and I had the cat fish dinner, my greens were undone and my fish taste like they had just heat them up. The casher never give you back your change, she puts it in her tip jar with out asking you and the service was slow but the people were nice.
Best I've ever had – The ribs at Sam's are so tender one would think they were boiled, but that is not the case when you know your BBQ. I could tell that a lot of time went into preparing those mouth water ribs. The BBQ Brisket is also delisious, I always go for the combo where I can get to meats of my choice and two sides.
