We ordered their straight “Summit“ staircase. This is supposedly a pre-engineered, worked-out design. In other words, it is not a one-off design on our behalf. Like so many others, we have dealt with numerous fabrication and field assembly problems. Most notably railing posts in no way comply with building code requirements. As a builder, I rely on suppliers to deliver accurately and on time. My order with Salter Spiral Stairs initially arrived incomplete, which was frustrating given my project deadlines. Fortunately, Amy quickly stepped in — she was extremely helpful and understanding — and arranged to have the missing pieces shipped 2-day air. Overall a great experience. From the first call to installation I have no complaints. Install was pretty easy, definitely need a good helper if you do it yourself.
BUYER BEWARE!! By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Spent almost $10k with these people, stairs showed up damaged and they offered $100. Spoke to the customer service rep and she was so rude treating me like a suspect in a crime. Unbelievable. I hope no one ever has to go through what I did and that whoever was part of my process no longer is allowed to work there. I really wish I could attach the recording of the phone call.
