I am a fan of shopping locally for my rowhome. I stopped by Salt & Sundry in Union Market and found the best home decor pieces. Whether you are a local or visitor please stop to find some beautiful gems here.
Looked like a cute store but when I as a dark skin black woman walked in I got greeted with an awkward smile two white women came in right after and they were greeted and asked how they could be help I left immediately
This store is beautiful and has something for everyone. I loved that staff was very welcoming yet I was able to browse leisurely without anyone interrupting me or being followed.
I came to this store as I have been here many times before. I noticed that the sales associate never greeted the Black customers (neither hello nor goodbye) but greeted all other customers. In fact they completely ignored the Black customers. I watched for several minutes just to make sure and unfortunately it wasn’t a fluke. It’s a shame bc the store purports (or at least used to) stock Black owned business products. But this type of behavior is unfair and unwelcoming.
