I needed a small pipe for a plumbing project, cut, and rethreaded. My first stop was to a 'plumbing and electrical' specialty store, which, when presented with my project problem, said, no, we don't do that. When I asked for a recommendation, they denied any help. THANKS a lot. Next stop, the infamous box store... pretty much the same reply, EXCEPT the older gentleman in the plumbing department suggested a machine shop in Salmon Creek.
