Not what we expected! – Stayed at the Salisbury this past weekend (1/07). Had read reivews/ratings which helped us select this hotel. Quite a dissapointment. The interior needs work. The lobby is shabby. Two elevators; caused us to wait on every use, especially coming down from our 7th floor room. Hallway on floor was in need of update. Room was adequate. TV did not work on some of the channels. Bathroom faucets created nosie if not set at proper flow rate. Checked bags when we checked out and had to wait 20 minutes to retri... read more
A small, friendly hotel with sensible rates. – The Scene Solo women travelers and families appreciate this hotel operated by the Calvary Baptist Church. For such affordability, the location is excellent: across from Carnegie Hall and near Midtown sights and Central Park. The public spaces have been refurbished recently. The Details Since the hotel was originally conceived and built as living quarters, the 204 rooms are larger than most. This means great walk-in closets. Many also have pantries with refrigerators, microwaves,... read more
Great NYC experience! – Stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend, great experience! The rooms were so big, and everything was just really comfortable. The staff was so firendly & knowledgable about the whole city, gave us great advice & recommendations about what to see, where to go, etc. Felt like we were at a quaint bed & breakfast instead of a hotel in a major city. The rates were really reasonable too, as I had compared quite a few hotels before booking Salisbury. Great value for our experience.
Outstanding experience – My husband and I checked into the Salibury July 4 with no reservation - we had been staying at a friend's apt and air conditioner wasn't working and nyc in middle of heat wave - the people at the hotel were incredibly helpful, pleasant to deal with, and Pedro (think that is his name) could not have been nicer - from doormen to maids they all are lovely people. We were upgraded to a suite (think they felt sorry for us with no air) and it was charming - rooms large, beds comfortable, immaculate conditi... read more
SIMPLICITY AT IT'S BEST – THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE FIND IN A VERY CONVENIENT LOCATION. THE ROOMS ARE CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE. THE STAFF IS HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. FOR THE $109 PLUS TAX THAT I PAID FOR A DOUBLE ROOM, I CANNOT COMPLAIN. I MEAN IT'S NOT THE PLAZA, BUT THEN AGAIN THE PRICE WAS RIGHT AND IT DIDN'T COST ME A FORTUNE. I TOOK THE MONEY I SAVED ON LODGING AND SPLURGED ON AN EXPENSIVE DINNER INSTEAD.
