disappointed – Service was average. Our order was lost or delayed due to other regular guests receiveing special treatment . Restuarant management offered no reason for th long delay. Pizza was average. Veal was editable but sauce was to sweet. Overall not a happy dining experience with out of town guests.
Old-style Italian favorites and pizza in a bright, comfortable River West space. – In Short Salerno's hasn't changed for years, but that's a good thing--they know what works and they stick with it. The dining room is bright, with windows looking out onto busy Grand Avenue. The hand-tossed pizza is topped with simple ingredients like nicely spiced sausage and a generous amount of mozzarella. Awesome – I've been a Salerno's fan my whole life. I went to the Berwyn locations for years before growing up and moving to the city. The stufeed artichoke is awesome, as is the original hand-tossed pizza. I would even stop in for a jumbo slice. Man are they huge!
Salerno's Is Cool – I've known the Salerno's owners for my whole life. Great people and great food. Always a comfortable place to be!! Mike and Joe are the best guys in the world!!! Thanks for the great food!!
Carry-out heaven – Carry-out is the word here....this pie tastes good no matter what you have on it, although the sausage and mushroom is excellent!
