Considered by many to be the best sushi house in the Twin Cities, the restaurant includes a small saki bar and fairly large sushi bar. Although the Sakura serves tempura, teriyaki, donburi and many Japanese noodle dishes, most people come for the reasonably priced and exotic sushi. If you are a novice, the waiting staff will guide you towards the selections that agree with your taste.Try tempura battered shrimp and fresh water eel rolled with spinach in a flaky shell. The grilled tuna or salmon served with a steamed vegetabl... read more

Best value for sushi in the Twin Cities – Every time I've been here the service has been exceptionally prompt and courteous. The atmosphere is very light, airy and open. Great value. I've never been disappointed.
Only 6? I think not... – In response to Joy, who reported Sakura having only 6 basic rolls ... did you turn the sushi list over?! They have just as many rolls to choose from as any other sushi place -- your basic maki as well as larger specialty varieties. And, you can also choose from a list of custom-made rolls that the chef specially prepared and named after players on the Wild hockey team. They're delicious (the rolls, not the players). Sakura is my favorite Twin Cities sushi spot east/north of the Mississippi. :)
Fabulous! – Sakura is St. Paul's place to go for sushi. Sit at the bar where they will make your order before your eyes. Not only the freshest, but an artwork to behold! Serive is tasteful and prompt, and Sakura makes you feel that you are an important customer. Sakura has validated parking for Lawson ramp.
Maybe I'm picky but... – this place could be GREAT with some attention to detail! The sushi is mostly good but the pieces are too big to eat in a mouthful. Awkward and messy with chopsticks. Also, the upstairs seating area is completely devoid of ambience (what is that pile of gravel doing there?) and I chafed at the $90 bill (for two) when it landed on our Formica tabletop. Sit downstairs and in the tatami rooms if possible -- then it seems worthwhile. The service was diner-style. I made reservations, but waited in the foye... read more
sushi fiend – The food was quite good. The server was nice but slow. I would recommend it as a nice place to go before a play
Authentic Sushi – Sakura has definitely got authentic sushi options. However, I was a bit disappointed by their limited option of rolls. They only had about six to choose from and they were all pretty standard. Besides the rolls, the food was great quality.
Shut up and eat your fish – Not just the best sushi in the Twin Cities, but the owner, Miyoko Omori, is one of the nicest people you could meet.
very good – expensive of course and great people working there. i always have a good time there. excellent to go to before a Wild game.
