This is a zero star review. I would not recommend Tyler Murphy at Sail Away Bay Marine. When we first met Tyler, he seemed friendly and knowledgeable. He looked at our boat issue and suggested a way he could save us some money. However, we left our boat with him for further inspection, and he came back to tell us we needed to replace the motor instead. He claimed he was ordering us a new motor but we recently found out from another boat mechanic that Tyler lied to us and purchased a remanufactured engine instead. NOT factory... read more
It took Tyler five trips to figure out what turned out to be a simple fix. On his fourth trip, he finally brought his diagnostic computer — something he should’ve done on day one. From the start, I specifically told him not to replace the spark plugs, as they were newly installed just 18 months ago and had less than 12 hours of use. He damaged our boat putting it back in our lift. He didn’t tell us that he broke our bimini end eye/latch cap and I had to call to ask if he had hit something on his way in. He added to the invoice that he was to fix the bimini lock, so I paid it, but almost a year later, and countless phone calls, voicemails, and text messages, we still don’t have the part we need. Took my bass boat to Sail Away 2 separate times now and have had great communication and feel as if they did exactly what they said in a timely manner. Thanks Tyler for the help!
Purchased a new to me Pontoon Boat & Trailer from Tyler. Super Clean Boat at a fair price. Good communication setting up appointment. Took boat to lake to let us test drive. Came to agreement on the spot. Even met us on a Sunday for pickup and paperwork, including notary. Small issue with trailer that couldn’t be handled on a Sunday. Took him at his word he would make it right and he did, reimbursing me for the issue.
