Before meeting up with the lovely Our Hen House ladies for an interview, we stopped by Sacred Chow in New York’s West Village for a bite to eat. Earlier that day, we had eaten at V-Note so we weren’t very hungry; but we also didn’t want to waste the opportunity to check out an institution like Sacred Chow. It’s quite a skinny little space they have, and you can’t see the kitchen space at all unless you walk to the back of the restaurant. There were two other diners when we walked in and several more showed up shortly after w... read more

Vegetarians, Vegans, demand better! – Truly disgusting. The wife and I had several appetizers and a salad. Every bite worse than the last. The only thing I would ever think of having at this dive is the juice. But you can't really mess up juice can you? We felt taken advantage of because of our dietary and lifestyle choice. Vegetarians should demand better. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Horrible.

awesome food poor service – I have been a patron of Sacred Chow for many years and I totally love the food..It's great HOWEVER..The guy who works there is def. not one of the best. Every time he is working, he's not paying attention to his job but seems to be more interested in his Girlfriend and making sure she is fed. Also I went to eat there a couple of days ago and there was a horrible smell in which I thought was the bathroom..when he came over to help me I realized it was him and was nauseated by his smell. I know some... read more

Best vegan cupcakes. Ever. – The menu is unique and the prices are very reasonable. Lunch specials are an amazing deal at $8 (just get there between 12:00-4:00pm), and their daily cream of ______ soups are some of the best I've ever had. Their "caesar" salad is excellent. Don't forget to order it with the "western tofu." More importantly, I have never had better vegan cupcakes in my life. 12 years of being vegan and not once has any other cupcake come close to Sacred Chow's! Do not be fooled by the dive-like quality of the i... read more
