Ordered a birthday cake for my daughters-When I ordered I asked if they could make half of it green and half of it pink. Then asked them to write the happy birthday Addysen and Savana on the appropriate sides. Picked up my cake this morning and was shocked when I was shown my cake. This was not at all what I ordered. The first photo is the cake I picked up today and the second photo is a cake I got in December for a cheaper price. They were wonderful when they catered our wedding in October. They followed pandemic percautions but was so greatful they were able to adjust and bring the food to our new wedding location. The food was delicious all my guests were sooo happy. I especially loved the fact they had samples for us to try and that i didnt have to schedule a day to sample with other couples as well. I was looking for sugar free bakery items for a diabetic family member. In this day and age, it’s not unusual for a bakery to have specialty items. When I asked about SF items, the young lady behind the counter started laughing, as if I was pranking her. She replied, “No. We’re full on sugar here.” So, because this was my first visit and I wasn’t sure what their menu looked like normally, I asked, “Do you usually have sugar free items?” (Thinking maybe they were out for the day.) great food, great selection, great service
I never thought I would have to say this. I am guessing due to cost saving, time saving I am ultimately dissatisfied and disappointed in Ryke’s bakery. I grew up with Ryke’s delightful baked goods and cakes. My birthday cakes, wedding cake, children birthday cakes always from here. We live an hour away and when in Muskegon we always stop to get our special treats. Yesterday we stopped for butter cookies, Holland cream long johns, cupcakes, and sprinkle donuts.
