Rye House is hidden amidst the nondescript buildings along 17th St. and it is known for its strong cocktails filled primarily with whiskey. Attractive space, terrible service – I met a friend at Rye House on a rainy Sunday night. I'd heard much of its loveliness and, indeed, it is a gorgeous space. We sat down at the bar and waited for ten minutes until the bartender approached us and asked if we had a menu. We replied "no." A menu never arrived. Kindly, the gentleman sipping bourbon next to us passed one over. We waited another 10 to 20 minutes and were NEVER served.
