they will not give you your full glasses prescription without you ordering glasses through them. and they did not disclose that a contact fitting exam would be over $100. when i called and scheduled an appointment i clarified that i would like to have both glasses and contacts for the exam and they told me it would be $15. as i went to check out they said i could not get my contact prescription unless i paid the contact lenses fitting fee of $130. i will never go back. and i suggest you go somewhere else
After seeing the same eye Dr. for nearly 25 years I finally had to make the switch after he retired. The day of my appointment I checked in and there were 3 colleagues up front complaining about being at work, which I did not find professional. The Dr. was OK, rushed a lot through the exam and switched through slides so quickly I left with an extreme headache. Called today to inquire about getting replacement glasses. The receptionist started out rude. I asked about the replacement glasses, and she immediately said my insurance doesn't cover them. Basically telling me I'd have to pay out of pocket. She told me to call my insurance, which I did, and confirmed replacement glasses are covered. I called the office back , but there was no answer. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Whitsett and his staff. He noted a freckle on my retina in 2023 and when I returned in 2024, I agreed to the photo of the eye again, and he noticed something had changed. He quickly referred me to a retinal specialist in Kalamazoo, who also quickly referred me to U of M. Both specialists commented how “excellent” Dr. Whitsett’s close observation was.
