I’m not using my actual name because I don’t need any more attention from these people. Dr. Rai is rude and dismissive. Has a very weird attitude towards patients. His nurses at the Columbia office are also rude and unhelpful. Please don’t get an appointment with him, he will only waste your time and belittle you in the process.
He is well known throughout the medical community for misdiagnosing patients with crohn's disease. Two other doctors told me that! The medication prescribed was expensive. My new doctor said I was misdiagnosed. I would not recommend him.
Add another review to the pile of people who were wrongfully diagnosed with Chron's. Not only did he jump to this diagnosis despite a lack of markers, he also came across as threatening -- instead of supportive -- about my prognosis: "if you don't do anything, you're going to end up in the emergency room." My review comes late, as I was Dr. Rai's patient in 2021... but I've finally gotten around to seeing a new GI doctor who not only gave me more comprehensive tests, but also confirmed that I have no signs of Chron's.
Dr Rai is booked up for months, always pushed off to another staff member for an appointment. The staff either in person or the call center generally rude and unhelpful. Twice billing errors made on my account it took months, several phone calls, emails etc to get my refunds. And the final straw came when Dr Rai besides making me wait an hour for my appointment was rude, condescending, arrogant and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Initially he was nice. He did all the test and procedure he had to offer. After that he disappeared. The nurse prescribed me medicine who did not even go through my complete medical records. My condition did not improve and became even worse with new complication. Now I go to John Hopkins, I feel much better. Well at this point I have learned that this private clinic may be convenient but surely is not as good as John Hopkins. Thank you.
