RecommendedLast night my 15 year old CH cat starting crashing, and we knew he needed an emergency vet. We have a VEG close by, but went to Dr Appel because he does allow family members in (maximum two, social distancing necessary). The last thing we wanted to do was hand our sick boy to a stranger and take the risk that we wouldn't be able to say goodbye and he would die with strangers. I started going to Dr. Appel when my cat pulled his stitches out at 11:00pm. It was after hours, but since he is there for emergencies 24/7 he took my cat right away. I've been going to him ever since! Very knowledgeable, caring, and comprehensive. He will provide recommendations, but always leave the final decision up to the pet-parents. Very reasonably priced as well. Can't say enough good about him!!!

Where do I even start! Went in last minute (9pm) my female Shih Tzu had had puppies 2 months ago...she was neurologically impaired couldn’t walk kept face planting we rushed her over-Dr. Appel was attentive-calm-thorough-covered all his bases he knew exactly what was wrong with her treated her and he saved my dogs life. Didn’t do any unnecessary testing, but again made sure to cover his bases and eliminate anything that he could think of. Dr. Appel is an extremely dedicated, kind and knowledgable veterinarian. He will spend whatever amount time necessary to examine you pet and answer any questions you may have. The office is very clean and the staff is very professional. In the 20 years I have been bringing my pets to see him I have never once been disatisfied or displeased. Dr. Appel has morals, values and a genuine love for animals and what he does...what more could we ask for?
My family and I have used Dr. Appel for over 25 years. We love him and so do our pets. I moved to Northern New Jersey 10 years ago and still make the round trip three hour ride to see him. Friends here in New Jersey think I should find another vet. My answer to them is, "You don't know Dr. Appel. I wouldn't go anywhere else!"
