last time I went the food was good but I went recently and it was terrible the menu was a lot smaller with poor service and terrible food I ordered a burger and it was bland to taste no flavor they had no milk and I saw what i believe to be a cook walk outside and smoked at least 4 times we walked in at 6:00 with a reservation and the place was empty when we made our reservation and they asked when we want to come when knew it was a bad sign I felt bad for our waitress I would not recommend the place has gone down hill since... read more

This is by far some of the best seafood we have ever ate!!! We are local to the coast and have had a lot of seafood. The food here is by far seasoned to satisfy your taste buds. If you are looking for good priced local food, please come and support Route 12 Steak and Seafood. They are fairly new to the OBX, all I can say is come try it yourself!!! Bonus: the staff and owner are very interactive and make you feel at home. ���

The showed up without a reservation, but they accommodated us quickly. We had the Trigger fish, philly steak, clam chowder and kids mac n cheese. All of it was amazing. Even the kids Mac n cheese was better than most who usually just serve the boxed kind. It was evident everything was home made including the cocktail sauce. We made a reservation for 2 days later before we left. I definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Restaurant was fairly busy with just 2 servers working. They were so busy the attention to detail was sorely lacking
Granted, we had a large party (14 people, _WITH_ a reservation), but their ability to serve dinner to the assembled crowd was beyond sub-par. 30 minutes to deliver a kid's grilled cheese sandwich is pathetic. Half the group was fed (app to entree) before some people had received their app's. Half the party actually left the restaurant before some entrees were delivered.
