I went in for my annual primary care visit and was later charged for ‘obesity counseling.’ The only discussion about my weight was reading the number from the scale — there was no counseling, treatment plan, or guidance provided. When I called billing to dispute the charge, they stated the notes reflected a conversation about my weight and refused to reconsider. Routine health metrics are part of an annual exam, so this additional charge felt inappropriate and disappointing.
Very positive experience with my NP. She addressed my concerns and we had a productive visit.
