I have been shopping at Rons Castle Food for better part of over 15 years, on and off. At one point I used to go there almost every day. I must admit that the posts that I see here are all too accurate. Their cakes and bakery items are great, but they fail to put nutritional listings on them, (ie. Carbohydrate, fat, calorie listings). For me this is very dissapointing since I am diabetic, and looking at nutritional info is imperative for me, with my diet. I shop there because they are local and they are personal. Im sick of the huge Mega stores taking over everything. I cant believe the nasty attitudes towards the store, what do you want, another Walmart? I went one day and was wandering through the wine section trying to figure out which one to buy. A gentlemen who works there came over and took the time to personally teach me all about the various wines and how to choose what wine with what food. My favorite grocery store in Eau Claire. Great for socially-minded college students (near campus) and others who would like to steer-clear of huge corporate chains. Its not too small (like some locally owned places can be) - Id call it medium sized.
Prices are very High. That is too bad because so many of the college students go there. Any body knows that their budgets are tight. Would be nice to see the prices drop. Staff is not that friendly and they rather talk to each other than to the customer.
I have to say that Rons Castle Foods is the worst place to buy anything in the universe.... There prices are way over what they should be, and as for Customer Service, They wont help you unless you demand service, theyll stand there and ignore you, to the point that you want to leave..... DONT SHOP AT RONS CASTLE FOODS!!!!!!!
Very high prices for the same food you can get anywhere else. Good bakery and liquor sections, but dairy and produce often have expired goods stocked. Very slow during peak hours as there are few cashiers and baggers working at once.
I went there recently to have my sons 1st birthday cake made. I ordered a "Batman" stage cake. I was so-so on the results. The decorations were nice and flavor excellent. However, I had requested the "toys" be put on top of the cake and on the bottom the birthday message. It was the other way around...which made no sence the way it looked. But not TOO big a deal. Nothing fancy about this place. Do not buy their meat. You cant take shopping carts out of the store. Liquor dept. is great!
