Dr. Berkowitz ordered an MRI of my lumbar spine and pinpointed the problem. (L5 , A "slipped vertebra," also known as spondylolisthesis ) He gave me several options with pros and cons of each. I elected surgery for hopefully a permanent solution . It’s been one month since and I can already walk distances without leg pain and numbness . Keep in mind everybody’s different. For me surgery and several days in the hospital plus wearing a brace are worth the negatives.
Dr Berkowitz was very honest about my neck surgery and was able to provide me with the name of surgeon at MetroHealth to consult.
I came to see Dr. Berkowitz after about 11 days of severe sciatic pain limiting me to laying in a bed. I had a disc herniation. He gave me 4 options of what I can do. Nothing, PT, a shot, or surgery. I didn’t like any of the options, but I know he was right. His guidance was spot on with anything you may read or research. I quickly realized that surgery was going to have to be my option bc I’m not willing to lose function in any part of my body if I can help it.
