A patient of Dr. Fitch 36 years ago brilliant doctor, I was the first recipient of an Ilazarf fixator at Duke University. Wonderful Doctor. So glad to see he is still teaching. I’m 52 now Doc and still going. I was the 16 year old from Lancaster SC in a motorcycle accident.
My son has been seeking treatment since birth from Dr. Fitch for his clubbed feet. He is now almost three and its amazing how wonderful this process has been. Dr. Fitch and his team have really worked hard and provided the best care for my son as he has made huge progressions. He walked at 15 months.. he jumps, runs around and plays just like every other toddler. Dr. Fitch was even able to complete treatment without surgery as of now.
Although we tried to avoid surgery for our daughter's adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (bracing, PT), it became necessary for her at age 17. Dr. Fitch did her spinal fusion (T3 to L1) five years ago and it was completely successful. He took time explaining everything during pre-op visits, in the hospital, and at post-op visits. We couldn't be happier and we enthusiastically recommend Dr. Fitch.
I went to Dr.fitch for a few years after finding out that I had schuermans kyphosis. I chose to brace my 87 degree curve and then realizing it wasn’t working as I had finished growing. At this time we were finally ready to discuss surgery because I was beginning to lose feeling in my legs at times.Dr.Fitch refused as he said he felt we should have started with that and he did not want to touch me until I couldn’t walk anymore. Very poor attitude. I was only 14 years old at the time.
After a canceled appt (weather) w/Dr. Lark, was offered an end-of-clinic appt w/Dr. Fitch (Durham @ Page Road) at 1 pm. Was told that he had this time built-in to his Thursday schedule for urgent appts. Arrived at 12:40 pm. Front desk could not find our appt. Someone from the clinic came out and spoke with me. I explained the situation. She went back into the clinic; when she returned she told me that we could not be seen that day since Dr. Fitch was leaving. Worst patient care ever!
Continued surgery despite failure of conscience sedation. I was screaming during the entire surgery. He did not give adequate pain medication after assuring me he would. I told him prior to surgery that overseas did not work on me. I was in agony.
