Every six months I have been going to Dr. Maxwell McCollum, III, at OrthoArizona in Avondale for DUROLANE knee injections for nearly 15 years. Dr. McCollum is always kind and patient with this old gal, and he always injects his syringe right into the side of the kneecap. Yes, it is painful during the process, but I can generally walk out of the building on my own and be able to remain pain-free. The staff is very friendly and patient. However, my second knee injection was so bad. I cried for 30 minutes afterwards. I have been getting injections for over 15 years and I never experienced pain like that before. My bone in my left knee still hurts. It came from the different way Dr. Burnham wants to give injections now and I’m not comfortable with that method.

I went to Dr. Burnham with left knee pain. I already knew it was an arthritic knee as I was diagnosed in 1983, but asymptomatic until a few weeks ago. After a barrage of x-rays (that’s a good thing, very thorough) the Dr. came in and told me basically what I already knew. He took time to listen to all my symptoms and pain and suggested a cortisone shot, which we did. I never felt rushed and I felt he listened to everything I had to say.
