About this business

Wilderness at the Smokies is one of Tennessee's largest year-round water park resorts. The focus here is largely on families, with spacious family suites, an adventure center with attractions including a rope course and climbing wall, off-site golf villas, and contemporary rustic rooms with first-rate amenities. In addition to the large indoor and outdoor water parks, the lodge, which lies on the west bank of the Little Pigeon River, also has an exercise room, a business center, and several on-site dining options. I was so post to stay at the wilderness this weekend for three days paided 711 didn't even get to stay one night. Because of a mistake the manager there is a heartless person didn't care that I was leaving there in the middle of the night to drive 2 hours with small children yes she have like 376 dollars but why should I pay you guys for nothing. If they are going to be a family place then get a manager with a heart she does not one.

Business response:

This guest was asked to leave due to violation of a resort policy.

There is no management. The staff has no knowledge. The rooms were appalling. Booked a poolside room at River lodge was given the worst room available at Stone Hill. No one would try to fix mistake or offer any help. The amenities are not true you read online. No room service no free meals for kids. Basically you are own your own here. Will even need to hunt down your own bathroom towels. I gave 1 star because although they have no knowledge the staff is mostly friendly.

Roaches in our room, and management didn't do anything to compensate our stay.

Business response:

This guest made the decision to leave the resort. Due to them having booked through a third party, we were unable to process their refund at the time but did inform the guest that we would approve the request for the refund once the third party reached out to us. The guest later informed us that they had received the refund. While we regret that this situation occurred, we did ensure the guest was given their money back.

I left my original review on the night of the 1st incident. I didn't possibly think the stay could get worse. Boy was I ever wrong....After spending almost $700 on a two night stay, we will NEVER be back. (Let me preface this with this is our 4th year. We recommend this to everyone over Great Wolf. NEVER again.) Our first day there, we walked into the water park, the floor was covered with soggy popcorn, wet plastic bags, dirty bandaids, etc. The employees were trying, you could tell they were understaffed, they were tired a... read more

we went to wilderness of the smokies for the weekend. we rented villa 124 for the weekend. friday evening, we got off the shuttle from the waterpark at our villa. it was raining and my daughter in law fell after taking about 2 steps off the shuttle because the driveway slopes down to the villa and is very slick when it is wet. she is hurt and hurt all weekend. the shuttle driver (Randal) saw her fall. i called the front desk and let them know she fell and it was very slippery out there in the rain. i called saturday morning ... read more

Our Senior Resort Manager has recently spoken with this guest & addressed the issues noted in this review. The A/C has been repaired and the refrigerator has been replaced. This guest let us know via this phone call that they were planning a trip to come back already without the children and accepted a gift card as a token of our apologies. Thank you.

Our room had air condition issues, Maintenance had to come and change out unit. Still after changing unit ...the air would work for 30 min then off still very unhappy. Called front desk several times to express issues. The hotel was full and could not be moved to another unit. They offered to bring me a fan which my 1 year old grandson was sleeping and i did not want to disrupt him so they could change or look again at the unit i told her when he woke up we would leave. We left at 3:30 am with no sleep. I had to wait to spea... read more

The roof our our hotel room was going to collapse at any moment. Not one single person at the hotel took us serious. Would not move us rooms and said they would charge us if we left. I want it on public record that if someone gets hurt from this situation that the hotel management knew about the situation and refused to do anything about it.

Business response:

Good Afternoon! I am so sorry to hear about your displeasure with your stay at Wilderness at the Smokies. I have researched this complaint and have spoken with our Maintenance & Guest Services Managers. It seems as though the night that the complaint was made was a sold out night, in which we had no rooms to move you to. It does appear as though we moved your room the following day to the top floor of our hotel so there would be no further issues with noise above. While the original complaint was for noise, we did have maint... read more

My family has stayed at the resort 5 times, normally each year for my 6 year old's birthday. Each trip gets worse the board of directors evidently do not care as you can tell from all the negative reviews. We asked for a 1pm check out and agreed to the additional charge only to have house keeping attempt to enter the room at 8.45 am. I spoke with another member of housekeeping around 9.30 am who I again told of the 1pm checkout. I joined my family at the waterpark and brought my son back to the room at 10.45am to be locked o... read more

I wish I could give them no stars. Waiting for our room to be ready for over 5 hrs. Was told over and over that the room will be ready soon. Well 5 hrs later we are still waiting. When I checked in I was also informed that the lazy river is closed and all indoor slides are closed. So basically the wave pool and hot tub are open. And kiddie area. Well I have a birthday girl who is 17 and her friends. They can't even go in some areas because of height restrictions. Having a horrible time and will never return.
