It would seem that Dr. Ritvo's primary focus is on patients suffering from depression. Should a challenging case be presented to him, he will likely refuse their admission into the inpatient unit. If he does, he places blame on the patient for being in his unit. He is, in essence, a psychiatrist that does not like treating those in need of psychiatric help. That arrogant self-serving approach allows him to boast of a high success rate but it leaves the most desperate patients in limbo.

Wasn't invested in me, and clearly just wanted to get out of there. I came willingly because I was a danger to myself and I returned home in the same state I left in.

Dr. Ritvo helped me so much in the time period while he was my psychiatrist. More than any other psychiatrist that I had ever seen before. He was able to get me on the correct anti-depressant after the many others that I had tried, had failed to help me over the 15 years prior to seeing him. He also was able to help me better handle my OCD, PTSD, severe Anxiety & Panic attacks. Most importantly to me, I felt comfortable telling him that I was an alcoholic & needed help. I'm 5&1/2 yrs. sober now.
