I rented from Richard for several years at one his homes on I street. While the house needed some work from time to time, the work was ultimately done. I preferred his style of hands off, versus some of the busy body corporate landlords in the area. He was always fair to me in negotiations and when I moved out in the middle of the lease after several years he gave me back my deposit which was not even owed to me, as technically I broke the lease. Ultimately he's not perfect but was a kind man and one I enjoyed renting from.

Mr. O'Brien is never in his office and does not respond to calls and letters regarding fraud and tenant problems. One of his tenants stole a check from my outgoing mailbox and forged a rent check from myself (who doesn't know Mr. O'Brien at all) to Mr. O'Brien. In other words, Mr. O'Brien cashed a rent check from a stranger (me), not even checking with his tenant about the fact that the tenant's rent check was from a stranger; he then ignored me, my bank, and the police after I filed check fraud reports.

Beware of Richard O'Brien Realty if you are a potential tenant in Sacramento Ca. area AND across the country since this landlord has property in other states. I suggest that if you are looking for a place to rent, save yourself time, sanity, and your safety. Do not rent from Richard O'Brian Realty. He does not care about his tenants.
