I have to say that this was one of my worst experiences with a doctor at NYU Langone. Basically all my doctors have been part of the NYU Langone team for the past 12 years. I have been dealing with back and neck pain or a while, and I was referred to dr Lau by my NYU Langone Orthopedist. When he came into the room he almost didn't even acknowledge me, I think that a smile, a nice introduction and some sort of nice manners should be essential for a doctor who visits someone in pain! Dr Richard Lau is an extremely knowledgeable physician in pain management. he is diligent, compassionate, and a very caring physician. He’s very meticulous and no nonsense when it comes to any procedure that he’s performing. He literally took me from not being able to take 2 steps and bent over at a 90 degree angle, to walking perfectly straight and having no walking issues after a couple of months. Dr. Lau helped me navigate my back pain and worked with my insurance company to get the procedure approved. I was able to get an appointment with him quickly and didn't have to wait months to see him.
I have been with Dr Lau since 2025. He is very straight forward, explains procedures well and easy to communicate with. Happy to answer questions. Super expertise in use of the equipment available to him. I plan to continue.
