The original idea for a bag less vacuum cleaner was created in the 1920s. John Newcombe was one of the first to invent a separator , a device that was designed to separate dust and particulates from the air. In 1929, Newcombe and his partner, Leslie Green, formed Rexair and began producing, refining and marketing the Rexair Cleaner. In 1955, an improved vacuum was marketed as the Rainbow Vacuum.
