For customer service from the start! Had to pick up my own container, about 13 miles away, to avoid a $50 delivery charge. Had a driver who twice, picked non-recyclable stuff, out of my container and left it laying in the street. Rates kept climbing every pay cycle, and they wanted to charge me for the last month, April, when there hadn’t been any pick up at all. To top it off, they want $29 to pick up the container. I took my last bill, taped it to their container and drove it back and saved myself the $29.
After 5 years of loyalty, Republic Services repossessed my bin over one late payment (which was already paid) with zero warning—no call, no email. When I called, they tried to force me to pay a future bill that wasn’t even due yet to keep service. That "shakedown" was the best thing that ever happened to me. I called a competitor and got the exact same service for less than half the price ($159 vs. my new rate) with a 2-year price guarantee. Wildly inaccurate estimates, expect to pay almost double estimated prices after you have signed a service agreement. I have been a commercial customer for about 6 years and will not be extending my contract next time around. Edit: Check out their canned response below, it’s a copy/paste that will lead nowhere just like the rest of their customer process. Missed 7 pick ups. Only had them from mid August to January. Not worth it. Unless you like paying for a service you don't get.
My nightmare of working with this vendor is finally coming to a close. These are the issues that I've encountered with Republic Services for residential trash service over the past years. 1 - Signed up for a 2 year promotional rate of $12.95 per month. 2 - For 2 quarters (6 months), they billed me twice that amount, including adding late charges during time when I was trying to contact them to resolve.
