I made a purchase today at the Huntington Beach store on Edinger Avenue. While processing my purchase, Amy asked me if I was an REI member, to get credits on future purchases. I replied I might have been at one time but I really wasn't sure. She tried finding my night in their database by using past addresses and phone numbers but came up empty. She then asked me for my email address and, Eureka, found me and applied the sale's credits. I appreciate her taking the initiative and making the effort to add value to my purchase.... read more
Friendly and helpful staff.
Probably my favorite REI location. Everyone here is always super helpful and nice. I've bought a mountain bike, tents, beds, kitchenware, clothing, hiking boots for me and my 2yo daughter and much more...I mean I keep coming back here for good reason! I would say my best experiences were purchasing the right bike and the right boots. They walked me through both purchases and helped me pick what fits my needs.
I'm a returning customer and this is the store nearest to me. Even then, I drove 13 miles to shop here. I came to shop on 5/26/2025 to take advantage of the sale going on. Throughout the majority of my visit, I was being followed by staff. I was shopping with my father and I understand we might not look like your usual customer base. But it was incredibly embarrassing and frustrating to be closely monitored as I made my way around the store, holding items I had picked out. Don't bother with the bike shop. Horrible customer service. Tried to do a follow up phone call to get clarification on a quote and the operator is the gate keeper. The operator asked for my question which she could not answer and informed me the service techs were busy and to try back later. The more an more I try to shop at the store I used to love and work at, the more disappointed I am with the experience. I will not be using REI or REI.com com any longer. It's sad to see how a brand has slid into mediocrity. Good bye REI
