About this business

Reel Inn is an ocean-side shack selling simplicity with a lot of value. The budget menu is on the chalkboards and a variety of fresh fish are on display under the glass counter where you place your order. Although the queue extends beyond the front door, the fresh food and the rustic ambiance make this wait worthwhile. Valet parking is available on weekends and do remember to call in for parties of 10 to 100. Enjoy your Fish Tacos or Grilled Shrimp either in the ocean-view dining room or on the herb-adorned patio. You are on... read more

Great seafood and great prices – This is a Malibu staple that can't be missed. If you are craving fresh seafood, this is the place to go. The interior is filled with bench picnic tables giving it some great atmosphere not often found at other Malibu restaurants and the seafood is fresh and abundant. This is a self serve place, so if you are looking for a nice sit down resturant where you will be waited on this is not the place to go. Order your food at the window and grab a table. There is often a line to order food especial... read more

LONG LINES AND SUB PAR FOOD – I almost lost it in this place. So at 4pm the line was only half way wrapped around the restaurant, which seemed not bad. Half hour later I was still in line and starving when I finally got up to the counter. I tried to order crab cakes, and at 4:30 pm on a Saturday, they seemed to have fun out of crab cakes!! So I got fish tacos but wanted to get the healthy sides in stead being salad and veggies, both which coast about $2 extra each. So two fish tacos plate coast $18 and it sucked. You want go... read more

Better than Neptune's Net – First time trying it...the Reel Inn exceeded my expectations. Food is much better value than at competitor Neptunes Net which is super far down the PCH, where $17 gets you a big basket of fries and only a little fish. Ordered the fish taco entree...enough food for me and my bf to share. Delicious, satisfying soft fish tacos with great fries, coleslaw and cajun rice for only $11! Also tried the fried shrimp which were great if a little pricy. Beer was cold, slightly more expensive than Neptunes Net... read more

depends on what you order – Great: fish, fries, cheap white wine, outdoor dining area. Terrible: overpriced, and appetizers such as calamari are overly breaded, consisting of bare slivers of meat. I usually love calamari but the greasy breading made me feel ill.

Great Fish Tacos – This is a great place to come to after a long day at the beach. Quick food, order at the counter, grab a seat on the benches outside. Gets busy though. Great fish tacos!

Fun – The place is relaxing and fun with friends. If you havn't been there you should go. Don't expect koi, or lobster. Expect to sit in family style picnic tables and plastic chairs, eat good food, drink cold beer and see friendly people swapping stories with a smile.

It's ok – Don't eat rice on Sundays at Reel Inn. The rice is not completely cooked because the person who cooks the rice on Sundays doesn't know how to cook it. I complained about the uncooked rice and I received the above response. Aside of the rice, everything is okay, the seafood (lobster) was a bit overcooked.

Laid back city – Nothing to do. With your pals. Feelin' like lobster or crab cakes or perhaps a swordfish steak. A beer as well. Take the drive to this place. Stand in the line and order at te counter. Pick up your food yourself when it's ready. But don't imagine for a second that t's anything else tha a surfer spot with OK food. It's the ambience and the location (and the trip to the place) that makes this place worthwhile.

Great beach dining – Not fancy to say the least, but a great choice for a day at the beach or after hiking. The fish is great; don't waste your time with anything else on the menu. I'd call this an institution in the very best way.
