Food is great, but needs more wait staff on busy nights. Wait staff is super friendly but overwhelmed.

My husband and i went for the first time last night. Everything smelled great and there was a pretty good crowd, but still plenty of tables available. The gentleman that sat us was very friendly and let us know there would be a band playing at 7. Almost immediately a server appeared to take our order, we ordered drinks but said we needed a few minutes with the menus. I've been here several times, mostly when Best Kept Soul has performed. This band has a huge loyal following which could present a bit of a challenge for any establishment to accommodate such a significant crowd. The Reef has very friendly and competent staff who handle this challenge very well. I don't spend my money at places that give substandard service. The Reef's great food and service keep me coming back. I always enjoy myself here.
I ate there this evening. My dining experience started of well, but then quickly soured. Appetizers were great, entrees were good. Service was bad. There were two families whose tables weren't quite ready when they went to sit down. A busboy started cleaning one table and was stopped by a gentleman that appeared to be the manager. I usually love to go to the Reef but Friday was a big disappointment. A well known band with a big following was playing & I think they were extremely understaffed. We had reservations for 12 (which were made on Wednesday) & we didn’t even have enough chairs at the two tables they put us at. We waited hours for drinks. One person in our party went to the bar 3x before the rest of us got a round of drinks. There were only two bartenders on and I saw 3servers for the Hugh crowd.
