My daughter and I were driving from Phoenix, AZ to NC and booked a room for one night through Expedia. On the Expedia app this Red Roof Inn had many positive reviews and photos of nicely updated rooms. The rooms are NOT at all as advertised. They smelled terribly of stale smoke, the walls were battered and very dirty, the secondary lock on the door was broken, the lamps and such were extremely dusty and spattered with lord knows what. Be aware of this Red Roof motel. The receptionist (an older man) vere rude and overcharged me compared to the online price and even the rate displayed outside. The actual cost was $55 per night, but he charged me $97. When I questioned the difference, he gave unreasonable excuses, like “because you came after 10 PM” and claiming there’s a 22% tax in Memphis, which isn’t true. When I pressed further, he started shouting at me. Very unprofessional experience.
