About this business

Napa is full of vineyards, but after a long day tasting wines, everyone needs a hearty bite to eat. At the Red Hen, we bring something special to our town by combining the old with the new. We've taken classic American dishes and updated them with a contemporary twist. Our dining room is full of polished wood and metal signs that remind guests of their childhoods. But above all else, people love to stay and watch the sunset from our patio. The Red Hen is full of traditional comforts and modern charm, so relax with us the nex... read more

A formerly good restaurant, the Red Hen is now unacceptable. While the menus selections disappeared, the prices went higher. That could be forgiven if the food were of good quality. Unfortunately the quality has changed over the years. The food is, at best, mediocre. The local taco trucks are far better. Also dropped to unacceptable is the service. It is very poor.

Very poor – I've lived in Napa Valley for 12 years. The Red Hen used to be a good place to eat if you enjoy Tex-Mex. That has changed drastically! The food is now very mediocre, the taco trucks are better. The service is very poor. My meal didn't arrive until 10 to 15 minutes AFTER my dining companions. A very unpleasant experience.

Not so good food – In my honest humble opinion, if you are looking for the worst food in the whole state of California, then this is the place to eat. We have eaten mexican food all over the USA and Mexico, and the local taco venders in and around Napa are 100 times better. How can they even refer that food as good mexican cuisine? It appears painfully obvious that they are just in it for the money and to take advantage of the unsuspecting tourist that happens to see the owner's horrifying commercials! Poor little dog, pleas... read more

Red Hen Cantina – I have been going to the Red Hen for years..ButI since they moved from down the street to the new location the place isn`t the same... A valley staple! – Other than their stab at breakfast a few months ago (we don't talk about it anymore), this place is a must. Lots of choices, and they can adjust to various dietary needs. Even their burger's good! Well, it's okay...it's worth a try, anyway. Great staff, very energetic and friendly. Try it for lunch on the deck! I'm not a drinker, so I won't comment on the bar. I hear it's very lively, though, and the margaritas rock! :)

Best Margaritas in the Bay Area – Drinking, it is soo enjoyable, especially after a hard week of work. My coworkers and I frequent this resturant on Fridays trying to forget the week over a nice Margarita. The food is quite edible, but there is better. The outdoor seating is by far the best in the valley, and their Margaritas are second to none. I highly reccommend this resturant for anything except a nice family meal, you can find better mexican resturants for that.
