I went in hoping for a decent high and tight, figuring the run-down shop was fine as long as the cut was solid. It was not. I specifically told the barber I wanted a high and tight, NOT a skin fade—emphasizing that the sides should come up even with the front hairline, classic military style. He gave me a skin fade anyway. I had to explain again, and he still needed two more attempts to get the height correct. Once the height was there, I reminded him to blend the sides into the top.
