We tried the beef rendang and nasi goreng (Javanese fried rice). Both were really good! The service was very friendly and the server (who I think is also the owner?) was very friendly and hospitable. I plan to go again to try different dishes. The prices were reasonable for San Francisco and gratuity (18%) is automatically applied to bills which I prefer to the 15/20/35% suggestions you see at some places. This place was somewhat disappointing. The chicken satay skewers had the texture of cardboard, just very dry, and the sauce wasn’t anything special either. The noodles were the only good thing we ordered, which says a lot, considering they were basically a turned-up Indomie mi goreng, if you know what I mean. Big fan of the cassava fries...the fish cakes are amazing too (which is, frankly, not something one says very often about fish cakes). Tasty, hearty, unpretentious food with a friendly, unimposing vibe. If you want a great soup on a rainy day, go here.
