I'd always heard about Randy's Donuts, so while I was at the Anaheim Packing House for dinner, I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. I picked up a small assortment so I could get a good feel for what they offer. Before I even got to the donuts, I have to ask: why does the box have four holes in it? I understand it's probably meant to resemble donut holes, but it seems like an odd design choice. The guy working Tuesday afternoon was great and really helpful telling me about the specialty donuts. I got the butter crumb raised, Oreo raised & Maple raised w/churros. The butter crumb was really good, but can be messy. The Oreo was really good and the flavor was in the icing as well.

This Randy's has a subtle sleaziness to it. But if that doesn't bother you, it's a fabulous place to grab a donut. It's hard to explain. It's right by the bathrooms, the space behind the counter is wide open with gross industrial tile, the staff obviously don't care, stuff is strewn all over... But like, does any of that matter? The donuts are good. Do you need a donut shop to be a bastion of quality and service? I don't. I just need a chewy, sweet torus of yeasty bread and I'm good.
I should have read the reviews before going because the girl working at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional from the moment we got there. She was too busy drawing a skeleton head on a napkin to be bothered with greeting us and even while "helping" us. She gave me attitude right away, questioned me as if she didn't know what a glazed donut was. I pointed to the big glazed donut.
