Got my truck diagnosed with having a bad temp censor at another auto service provider. Next day breaks down, take it to Randy’s and I’m told it has a crack in the radiator and they will replace my temp censor/radiator. I clarified this before I even said yes and I’m told that’s what was included in my price. Fast forward a month my light cuts on again, get it diagnosed again that it’s the censor. Take it to back bc it’s running weird and they tell me it’s misfiring, most likely bc of stock coils bc my spark plugs are new. Fine clarify the amount to fix those and I’m fine with it and it will be ready next day. Next day I get a call saying the new parts are in but my censor is bad, I say fine that was replaced by you guys and it’s under warranty. I’m told no it wasn’t. My receipt states that a “Thermostat” was replaced not a temp censor. When I brought it in originally I knew my censor was bad I stated that the very first time I brought it in. I’ll provide you all with the literal definition of Thermostat. Device that automatically regulates temperature. When stating to them this was a clear communication issue from their associate who I clarified with multiple times they refused to do anything and simply told me since I don’t know what I’m talking about they aren’t going to do anything. Will never do business there again. Was told bc I don’t know the difference between the two I clearly am wrong about what work was done, when the distinction between the two parts by definition is exactly the same. This was the worst customer service by communication I’ve ever received from a business. Good luck to anyone getting your vehicles serviced there.

Jeff, I apologize for your misunderstanding of the two clearly different parts you are under the impression are one in the same. As evidenced by the pictures at the bottom of this reply to your post, one part is read by the computer, the other part is mechanical and has no intersection with the computer. Had you taken the time to do a little research on the Internet, took about 2 minutes for an old guy like me, you could have come to the same conclusion as I did. If you check those part numbers in the pictures you will find those are the exact fit for your Tacoma. The mechanical thermostat on your vehicle can not turn the check engine light on, as there is no way the computer can monitor it. As you clearly stated in your jumbled rant of a post, your receipt shows we charged you for a thermostat, not a engine coolant temperature sensor. So I can’t give you a warranty on something I never bought from a vendor, and you never paid for as a customer. Since you didn’t tell the entire story to Facebook, I will fill in all the blanks. As we all know there are two sides to every story and now I get to tell my side. Jeff brought his 2000 Toyota Tacoma in to my shop on the back of a wrecker because Jeff drove the truck while it was overheating. In fact he kept driving until the engine quit running. Most people that understand internal combustion engines know you should immediately shut the engine off as soon as you safely can. Once the engine overheated to the point of shutting off, you have most likely damaged the engine mechanically. We found the cause of the overheat. The radiator had cracked and all the coolant was pumped out of the engine. Jeff mentioned he took it to another repair shop prior to bringing the truck to us and they told Jeff he only needed a coolant temp sensor. I wonder how they missed that giant crack in the radiator. And why didn’t Jeff have the other shop repair his vehicle if all he needed was a simple sensor? Jeff, your assessment of our opinion of your knowledge of automobiles was on the money. In fact in my conversation with you over the phone you admitted you brought the Truck to a shop because your words were “I don’t know anything about cars” well I’ve been in business for over 20 years in the same location because I know a little about cars. Your truck didn’t need a coolant temperature sensor when we initially scanned the computer on your first visit. I’m not in the business to sell you parts and labor for your car you don’t need. This is the first time I’ve ever been cursed out and called a liar over the phone and accused of not selling a customer something they don’t need and then get a poor review for it. As Andy Rooney used to say “and now you know the rest of the story” Oh, and just for your information, you spell the word sensor with an “S” not a “C”. Cheers 😃

Randy's Auto Center is very unprofessional. When told my mother is medically fragile and asked them to wear a mask, which she offered to provide, they were very rude and refused. No place willing to hurt, or possibly kill, a customer because of personal and political beliefs should be in business. As context, my mother is a cancer survivor and still suffers from complications. That shouldn't matter, they should not have to know that information to be decent human beings and respect the customer.

It’s nice to be able to take your vehicle to be repaired and trust that the mechanic shop is being completely honest and upfront with you. I recently had my jeep repaired there and they were awesome, quick, and reasonable.

They charged us $85 just to look at our car. They did not tell us this up front. They didn’t even give us an estimate. I will not be doing business here anymore.
