The first room we were in had black mold in the bathroom and peeling paint from bathtub surround. They moved us to a different room when requested. While no black mold, the bathtub was severely stained and the surround appeared to have been painted as well and was peeling in spots also. I paid for the room using Choice Hotel points so at least it didn't cost me anything out of pocket. My experiences with Choice Hotels have usually been positive. Unfortunately, this one did not meet my expectations for a Choice Hotel.
You get what you pay for
Located outside of the city centre, however anyone travelling by public transport say by train to Joliet can use local bus 505 from the local adjacent bus station. Quality Inns can vary. This one was below the standard of others. Front desk check-in wasn't handled very well and seemed surprised with having me having ID as a UK passport. Also couldn't understand the format of my UK phone number! One lift out of order. Room was one King sized bed, desk, char, fridge and microwave. Staffs were not that friendly, stayed on the first floor but when it rain the window corner immediately flooded, I informed front desk and told me they're fully booked and no room available, instead a maintenance guy came to my room just to vacuum the carpet, secondly the TV has no remote control informed the front desk, I'd got the remote the next day ,3rd the telephone kept ringing every minute and tried answering it and no one on the line , informed front desk and replied that their phone kept ringing on their behalf too.... read more
