I have been to Puerto Vallarta about 8 times each times I have received great food and service. The prices are good. My son lives in San Francisco where their is a lot of really great Mexicans restaurants thought this place was a place he would return to, better than some others in Santa Rosa.
I moved from San Diego so I have been very spoiled as far as Mexican food goes. The food here is good but not fantastic. It is a family run very pleasant place. The service is excellent. I haven't found any mexican food in Santa Rosa that I love but I have been here several times just because the food isn't bad and the service is wonderful.
Puerto Vallarta is your basic mexican restaurant. As with most mexican restaurants this is not gourmet cuisine, but generous portions of all the basic standards that are consistent and filling. The top shelf margaritas are superb, but by the pitcher will run you twice the price of a meal for two, and yet they are still worth it. Great chile verde with all the classic sides, super soups, and fabulous fajitas. Can get boisterous and noisy when busy, but then that is the way it should be.
