I want to apologize to the ER nursing staff for my behavior during my visit. You were trying to help. You have the education to help us improve our daily life. Please don't waste it and put your best foot forward when interacting with patients. We trust you enough to give very sensitive information about ourselves. It is very hard for us to open up. My aunt is 91 and has late stage dementia. Her daughter didn’t know she would not be able to stay with her over night and was told at shift change. She asked for an exception and it was denied. She was told she would have had to ask earlier. As an RN I am very disappointed in this lack of flexibility. My aunt was crying and very distressed when her daughter had to leave as she is her primary caregiver. I live in Portland and my 90 year old mom spent 3 nights at Prov Portland. Kind, Professional, Patient, and very busy. Everyone and I mean from the front door to exit, amazing. Wait times are the primary compliant I hear. Having lived in NYC, Boston, LA, it's not too bad. Yes there went your day but you will get what you need and not have to plead for proper testing. I feel, personally, it was the single best hospital experience of my life. Go Spokane. Go Providence. There was an incident and it was not good. I am very concerned about the well being and safety of my sibling being in a hostile hospital. They have sings up about being rude and violence will not be tolerated, oh but they can dish it out because they've had a bad day. What makes that right??!??
