I went to UF to discuss proton therapy and the doctor walked in and told me I need to have surgery cause I’m too young 58. We did not even discuss proton therapy. He said it’s radiation and it’s not good for you.
I was referred to the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute (UFPTI) in Jacksonville, Florida, by an old friend of mine after he heard that I had been diagnosed with cancer. My experience here was a blessing! I was reluctant to travel so far from home for treatment, but the expertise and kindness of the staff made it a truly positive experience. I am lucky to be under the excellent care of Dr. Nancy Mendenhall and her medical team. Jennifer deserves a special callout for the time and support she offered so generously.
