I was referred to Karen by an ENT doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering after having surgery for carcinoma medullary thyroid cancer. One of my vocal chords was paralyzed and Karen worked with me and showed me many techniques that helped tremendously. Karen has the most pleasant personality and she makes you feel very at ease. I will definitely refer Karen to anyone that need voice therapy.
I am happy to say I am one of Karen's past clients. I came to her almost 20 years ago. I was singing in a choir for 8 years and all of sudden, after a concert I lost my voice. I could talk but when I tried to sing, only a whisper came out. Long story short ,I had extreme muscle tension that prevented the chords from fully approximating. Karen Sussman is fantastic. I worked with her for several months after my ENT referred her from having a pseudo-cyst on one of my vocal folds. I have learned techniques and tips that have changed how I approach singing in my everyday life that will prevent any other damage to my vocal cords.
