Unprofessional – Kelly, the owner and decorator, is not reliable decorating your home. Met with her at my uptown home- she took measurements, copious notes on color and potential fabrics, etc. and then I never heard from her again. Left one message for her and she didn't respond. If she didn't want the job she could have called...I would have totally understood if she had a problem- not enough business ($) for her, she was too busy, or whatever..., but she just never called. The only place to go for full service decorating – I have used and recommended Probst since the 80"s. I have always been very pleased with their services. Recently Kelly helped me with drapes and furnishings for a vacation home. She travelled to the Gulfcoast to see exactly what she I needed. I was a bit nervous until the finished products were installed (my husband is very particular). Everything was fantastic and my husband was especially surprised that Kelly understood what he wanted! Fabulous things for the home – Wow, surprised by the bad reviews! Mrs. Porter has made the drapes, bedspreads etc. for me since I purchased my first home in 1980. She is quite an accomplished sewer. Her daughter, Kelly, does a great job of keeping up with the current styles and trends and it is reflected in the fabrics, lamps and furniture that is for sale at the shop. Greatest Selection of Fabric and Nicest Smile! – My wife and I were redoing our house. When we walked into the store we felt welcomed and wanted. My wife,admittedly fickle, had a large selection to choose from and was helped by either Donald, Kelly, or Jen the entire time. We had a deadline and a budget. Kelly came through 100%. She was attentative and very professional. I would recommend this business to any designer or couple that has a deadline that needs to be met.
Probst Decorating would probably be a good place to go if they had more professional installers. I used them, and when my window treatments were installed in my bedroom, afterwards I found out that I was missing cash that I had sitting on the dresser. I even tipped the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe his name was Jeff.
Don't leave cash lying around – Probst Decorating does not use good installers. I used them to install my bedroom window treatments, and after the installer left, I found out that the cash that I had on my dresser was missing. The worst part was that I tipped the guy for the work that he did. Jeff (I think that is your name), God doesn't like ugly.
We found a few glitches – Stay away from this place. I recently bought curtains from this place and they were all cut to short in width and to short in length. The decorator does not come when the curtains are installed to make sure they hang ok. I have sent these curtains back many times and they are all still cut to short. Stay away!!! very disappointing (and often maddening) – We choose Probst to reupholster some of our living room furniture; we really wish we hadn't. Nothing went smoothly in the process. First, Probst lost the cushions that were original to our vintage chairs. There are very few examples of these chairs in the United States, which were made by a renowned master craftsman in the 1930s, and it was important to remake the cushions like the original.
