We had an "Event specific mosquito and tick" treatment that didn't work at all. When I called to complain, they were unresponsive in getting back to me. After several tries, I finally got to someone who dismissed it as "well, it's never guaranteed and usually you need several treatments". Why sell a 1-time only/event plan?
