Preferred Air is doing their best to rip me off. I told them I needed a condenser fan for my AC. The guy shows up and says he can install a rescue fan for my 10 year old unit for $679. I said, "let's do it." Then he gets on the phone to run it by his boss who tells him no, he has to put in an OEM motor for $770 plus $130 for the visit totaling $900. No way! This is what happened and I think they engaged in an unfair business practice of bait and switch trying to run the cost up and that's why I refuse to pay their $130 'diagnostic fee' and by the way they did no diagnosing of the unit. I already knew it was the fan motor. The technician spent no time looking at the unit to check the fan. He simply started talking to me about the cost of the replacement and installation.
It's a sad story of how they treated me after I worked there for 9 years and they fired me because one of the service departments got mad at me and yelled at me in front of everyone and had the owner fire me. The owner made fun of my daughter for having cleft lip and palate. I also had a tumor in my head 2 years ago that's when they started to treat me badly they didn't want me to any passwords of different counties. I had a good experience today with Prefferred AC they came out explained why my system was constantly shutting down and how and what to do so the problem doesn’t persist.
The Carrier air conditioning on my new-construction home has been experiencing performance issues. Preferred Air sent out three techs over two weeks to troubleshoot the problem, but walked away after the last visit saying that the unit is running normally. Unfortunately, that's not the case as the A/C runs nearly continuously, even when the set point is close to or at the outside temperature and well after the ambient temperature reaches the thermostat setting. My husband contacted this company yesterday because our thermostat was not working - it said that the power line was not connected to the AC Unit. Issac came out to look at the issue. During the time he was here, he asked me where my circuit breaker was. I showed him. He proceeded to go in my garage, turn on the light, and remove his shoe covers and tampered with my circuit breaker. While he was here, he also went outside to where my water hose/valve is and put water in a jug for him to drink and looked at my air compressor.... read more
The unfortunate part of this review is I had service performed by this company 3 years ago, and the technician who came to my house was professional, helpful and friendly. He obviously got fired. 11/20/21...con artist who is just incompetent enough to be humorous, 6 year old unit, needs to be entirely replaced. ********, get another job, and not as a poker player, because your tell is too obvious. Liars, cheats, do not to business with them if you like your money.

Truly sorry you have that impression. ******** is a very honest technician who does a great job. He recommended the replacement based on the condition of the system. The price to remove and clean the extremely impacted dirty coil is very high and in a case like that we always are sure to provide all of the options available. Can you find a non licensed person to do it "cheap" sure you can but we are not a company like that. Office staff is incredibly unprofessional. They scheduled an inspection if a recently installed AC unit and then failed to schedule with the inspector. I waited all day because the window they gave me was 8m-5pm and no one showed. They called and rescheduled the inspection. The inspector showed up while I was in the shower. My 16 year old answered the door. The inspector didn't ask for a permit. He looked at the AC and left after telling my son it looked good. Well I had a clogged drain line. The tech showed up and after looking at the problem he called their office and the company decided that they would not work on it. .Then 4 months later I get a bill from the a collection agency for 109 dollars. They claim they sent the bill to a address I have not lived in for 5 years. After calling the office I was informed they have a right to charge me a service fee just for coming out even if they perform no work. Hello, We had never been to the home prior to the service called made by the consumer. He was advised at the time the appointment was scheduled that there would be a charge of $79 for a diagnostic. Once we arrived and found much more than a clogged drain line and that the system was new and extremely poorly installed, unpermitted and installed by a unlicensed contractor.
