We were, to start with, very happy with Dr Poulton and her knowledge. We really liked how she spoke mostly to our son, then confirmed the information he has relayed is correct, through me. However, on our last appointment, I am very disappointed with the things she said directly to my 14yo son. Telling him that "if you decide you don't want to do what Mum has told you to do, you could say "well no I don't want to do that and actually I'm bigger than you!". Like others have mentioned, Dr Poulton has blinders on and will ONLY focus on ADHD. We’re so far behind with our child’s ASD diagnosis and management because we trusted Dr Poulton and when addressing concerns about our child’s behaviour it always circled back to ADHD and needing to increase their medication. My child has suffered for no reason other than Dr Poulton’s negligence. This included attempting to put my child on 2 stimulants at the same time (Vyvanse and Dex). For years and years, she was my pediatric consultant. I had so many pills, and the #1 diagnosis for me was ADHD. I feel as if that's her goto. No other avenues were tried or investigated. I weighed 23kg for 2 years straight. I didn't gain any or lose anymore, I was stuck in limbo. I could fit into my 2yo brothers' shorts. My Son was a patient for over 5yrs and she was only interested in diagnosing him with ADHD now he saw a psychiatrist he has been diagnosed ADHD and on the Autism spectrum, which we did inquire about with the so called specialist multiple times.
