Do not use this company. Joel is a scammer and will screw up your heat pump and electrical. We've had to call him several times to come fix his mistakes. He does things just as bandaids. First of all he didn't install the heat pump correctly. The electrical was done wrong, he used our old air conditioner pad for the pump which made the unit freeze up. The refrigerant kept leaking with his shoddy job and now the heat pump is broken. We've been without heat for a month now through the winter. Joel won't call us back when we ca... read more
I’ve come back after a year and a half to edit my review. I had given Positive Solar Energy (PSE) a good review because Joel explained heat pumps and the rebate process with the government to us in a pretty clear way. Unfortunately, as it turns out, after thousands in additional HVAC fees from another supplier, we have just come through two winters with faulty heating. Issues of note: 1. Joel upgraded electrical panel to 200 amps. TechBC identified multiple electrical code violations requiring extensive repair costing me over $4K. Joel replaced gas furnace & hot water heater with heat pump & hybrid water heater. He failed to cap the gas-line in the crawl space, resulting in gas leak identified by Fortis as due to his error. Joel did the repair but Fortis returned when gas smell persisted, and had to do a second repair. The heat pump he installed failed within 3 months and he had to return and repair. Joel and his team did an awesome job of installing a heat pump, a hybrid water heater and a ventilation system at my house - professional, knowledgeable and hard-working - wow, what a difference! They are registered contractors with CleanBC, which means that one can claim rebates from the provincial government. For anyone who is registered with Clean BC's Income Qualified Program Positive Solar Energy HVAC Plus will bill CleanBC directly for a large part of the costs.
