Get directionsIf I could leave zero stars I would. The staff themselves were amazing, however, Dr. Amanda Verma is the problem at this facility in Valparaiso. Last I looked she was a mental health doctor, not a gastroenterologist. I believe the problem with the patients in there is they are not getting the correct medications to help them get better because this doctor doesn't believe in giving them. I will be speaking directly with the head of Porter Starke about Amanda Verma
My friend was here and had the unfortunate experience of being forced to interact with Verma. Each day she was here I watched her deteriorate. Shes no longer with us and it’s because of the treatment that she received while at this facility. Verma should not have her license.
I had a family member stay here for a week and they really helped. I understand why the poor reviews. People often use these services during a traumatic time. My family member would probably give them one star too. But they were very easy to work with. I received calls back quickly, the nurses answered all my questions, and my family member received the help she desperately needed. everyone here is correct, verma needs to be fired. freaky to see a review from just two weeks ago about her when she gave me hell a year ago now. if you or your child are transgender, do not go here. they will tell you they know how to care for you and then misgender you without consideration, no matter how clear you make it, including on your discharge papers. i was also physically unsafe here which led to my early release, since they literally did not have the means to protect me from the man harassing me. my mother said i... read more
My autistic son was brought to the ER for self harm. He was trying to gauge his eyes out and cut his back on a shiplap wall. The last time this happened, he was transferred to inpatient. Porter-Starke was called out to evaluate, and they decided he wasn't a danger to himself and recommended his discharge. I pleaded with them to recommend inpatient again, but they wouldn't listen.
